Security System Replacement Questions

Every question we get asked about security system replacement, answered straight.

Questions

How It Works

  • Can a door sensor or keypad be replaced without replacing the whole system?

Yes. A single worn sensor, dead keypad, or flat backup battery can be swapped independently. The key is matching the replacement part to your panel model so it enrolls and reports correctly. Most faults trace back to one component, not the whole system.

  • Do I need to test the system after replacing the battery?

Yes. After a swap, the panel should be restarted and each zone triggered to confirm the trouble light clears and sensors still send signals. Skipping this step leaves a faulting zone undetected, and the warning can return the same day.

  • Does a low-battery warning always mean the panel is broken?

No. It usually means one battery, either the panel’s backup battery or a wireless sensor’s internal cell, has reached the end of its life. If the warning returns shortly after a replacement, the issue may be a wiring fault or a second device in the system, not the panel itself.
